Gym Etiquette

Throughout my gym going days I have always managed to avoid the weight training room (or as I always call it, the big boys room). I felt it was full of machines that were not suitable for females, weights that were way too difficult for me, and in all honestly I was intimidated by the looks and sounds that came from that room.
Recently I began a new routine that required me to enter the big boys room and try out some of these scary looking machines. Everything was going great until one day I came up to the smith machine and there were two 45lb plates on each side...Call me weak, but it took me about three minutes to maneuver them off of the bar.

Finding Motivation

I find a lot of times that girls have real trouble getting motivated.  Perhaps part of the reason is that guys see results much quicker than girls do.  And, if you don't see results, you lose motivation.  The logic in that is backwards, IMO, because you'll never see results if you're not consistent. This is also true for guys, however.  Guys lose motivation just as quickly as girls do.  

Therefore, I have come up with a few things that keep me motivated.

Working Out at Work

One of the biggest issues plaguing my fellow desk jockeys is how to maintain some semblance of fitness despite being quarantined to our cubicles day in and day out. 

A couple of years ago, Dr. James Levine, an endocrinologist at the respected Mayo Clinic, created a pretty awesome contraption to help burn extra calories over the course of the work day. Dr. Levine took an ordinary treadmill and outfitted it with a makeshift workstation.
