Working Out at Work
One of the biggest issues plaguing my fellow desk jockeys is how to maintain some semblance of fitness despite being quarantined to our cubicles day in and day out.
A couple of years ago, Dr. James Levine, an endocrinologist at the respected Mayo Clinic, created a pretty awesome contraption to help burn extra calories over the course of the work day. Dr. Levine took an ordinary treadmill and outfitted it with a makeshift workstation.
At speeds of under two miles an hour, stationary workers can burn over 100 calories per hour without disrupting their routine. The Walkstation has since been installed at offices across the country. Now if only I could justify this through my cost center :)
